How to Plan Your Content Marketing Strategy for Your Launch

Starting a new project is overwhelming: you need to think about so many things at once, and most people get stressed out by it. I often do. How to Plan Your Content Marketing Strategy for Your Launch.  Unfortunately, knowing how to effectively plan your content marketing strategy is an important skill that stresses out many people every day.

There’s no way to make a successful project launch easy. After all, the more you do before and during your launch, the better the chances of your project’s success. Therefore, this guide isn’t designed to make your life easy. It’s designed to help you organize your pre-launch content marketing campaign so you know what to expect (and what other things to plan for).

A content marketing strategy is one of the most important components of a digital launch. You need to plan your time and budget so that you can create all the content assets for your launch in a timely manner.

Here are some steps and tips on how to create a content marketing strategy:

Building a small site

The easiest way to manage the reputation of a future project is to create a separate site for it. Everything else you do will be consolidated around a dedicated presence that you can control.

These days, it’s not that hard to set up a website. You can take the safest and most popular route and get your mini site running on WordPress, which most hosting packages offer as a one-click install option. After that, it’s mostly a matter of choosing and customizing a theme and creating some initial content. You should be able to handle both in-house.

If you don’t have much to say about your project yet, or you want to surprise people with its features, you can set up a lead generation form and publish your content later after the launch.

There’s no preparation required for this step: just search for something like “pre-launch page” in the WordPress plugin library and choose the plugin that best suits your needs. There are great WordPress themes out there that make it easy to create a landing page .

Things to do before going online:

  • Find a good domain name. Nano-ize is my favorite tool for choosing a new domain for my new project! You will get some very unique and creative business name ideas using this tool
  • Set up a landing page to start collecting emails to announce your launch
  • Consider a simple referral program, such as promising early access to subscribers who bring at least three friends to sign up

Guest post and use this author profile

Guess what remains one of my greatest forms of promotion and SEO? You guessed it, guest blogging . And I’m not the only one. This form of reaching an audience by forming a mutually beneficial guest posting relationship continues to be a boon for those who have something real to offer the masses.

Your author bio is a great place to talk about your future products, linking to a landing page to drive signups. Don’t try to sell anything in your bio, though: let your content speak for the quality of what you have to offer.

It’s best to talk to all of your editors ahead of time and make it clear that you are preparing for publication and will discuss your future projects in your resume or in the content itself. You’ll be surprised how many of these editors are willing to help you out and even offer more opportunities when they see that you’re being completely honest with them and not trying to sneak in promotional links.

When it comes to building relationships, honesty and authenticity go a long way.

Things to do before going online:

  • Identify the blogs you will contribute to
  • Contact the editor to discuss your posting and how your column can be used without violating any guest post policies

Podcast and/or Vlog About It

I, like many others, see podcasts and video as the medium of the present and future. If you can get a promotion from another series or channel (often as easy as an email), do it.

You don’t have to be a well-known influencer to be interviewed: you just need to be an expert in a specific area (e.g. publishing) to tell your story.

Otherwise, consider starting your own podcast to promote this work, future work, and your brand. With today’s software, it’s much easier than you think. Over time, it will also become a valuable brand awareness driving channel, so you’ll be able to grow your list and attract new influencers again and again.

It’s also a good idea to create a quick video (or series of videos) during the pre-launch phase to explain your project. After launch, you’ll be able to use that video everywhere, from your social media channels to email marketing and your own website.

Video is quickly becoming a major marketing asset. Maxwell Hertan of Megaphone Marketing said it best ,

In 2016, Mark Zuckerberg told Buzzfeed News, “If you fast-forward five years, I wouldn’t be surprised that the majority of content people see on Facebook and share every day is video.” Well, here we are — take a look at your newsfeed. Mostly video? We thought so.

If you still haven’t created and shared videos on the reg, this year is the year to do it!

Things to do before going online:

  • Identify podcasts and video channels you would like to be interviewed on
  • Find a unique angle you want to discuss
  • Connect with podcasters and bloggers, provide your story and become their special guest
  • Create your own videos to promote your products and put them in a meaningful context

Host a Twitter Party

People still love Twitter, and if you have a chat centered around your project, they will participate.

After all, they’re on Twitter anyway. Just give a week’s notice and make the connection hashtag easy to remember. Also visit and link to a tweet chat service the day before that creates a chat box using the hashtag; it will help followers who have never participated in a Twitter chat before to catch up.

Things to do before going online:

  • Set a date and time for your chat and find a good hashtag
  • Connect with niche Twitter influencers and invite them to be featured guests to support your launch. Obviously, your best bet is to first contact influencers you already have a relationship with, so building relationships should come first.

Pre-Launch Content Marketing Checklist

Here is a list of basic tasks before you proceed with publishing.

  1. Research your market thoroughly . This may seem simple, but you’d be surprised how many founders launch startups or products without a realistic view of the market. Some may not even have a firm grasp of their audience, which affects every other step. Start with the research I talked about earlier.
  2. Create your tone and message . You india telegram data want to know not only what you want to say, but how you want to say it.
